Senior Pastor / Elder
Pete Greig is the bewildered founder of the global 24-7 Prayer movement, a director of Waverley Abbey and Senior Pastor (with his wife Sammy) of Emmaus Rd Church. He’s also an award-winning author and host of the Lectio 365 daily devotional used by more than 270,000 people. Pete and Sammy have lived in four cities on two continents, planted five churches and most importantly raised two wonderful sons.
Senior Pastor / Elder
Sammy became a Christian just up the road from Guildford at the age of seventeen. Working together in team ministry since they were first married more than 20 years ago, Sammy & Pete have planted two churches. With a background in business, Sammy is a proud mum to two teenage boys, and can often be found reading highbrow books in quiet corners of local coffee shops. Less impressively, she admits to having watched the Bridget Jones movie more than thirty times, and to having once been lead singer in a pub covers band.
Executive Director
Christina lives in Farnham and is married to Darby. They met in a Guildford church plant in 2007 and now have two children, Isaac and Joel. They have been a part of Emmaus Rd Aldershot since it began it 2020 and love being a part of a thriving and diverse church community. Christina joined Emmaus as Executive Director in 2024, having previously led policy and operational delivery in central Government, worked in advocacy and international development at Tearfund, and before that working with the global church on development, relief and advocacy across the Anglican Communion. Christina loves good food, exercise, being outside (in any weather) and travel!
Aldershot Pastor
Matt is a keen runner, mountain biker and Formula One fan, and is the Pastor of Emmaus Rd Aldershot along with his wife Paz, whom he met in Spain whilst at a 24-7 Prayer Gathering! Originally from Southampton, Matt studied youth & community work with applied theology before moving to Guildford to join the team as youth pastor in 2013. He also has a Graduate Diploma in Kingdom Theology from Westminster Theological Centre. He is passionate about seeing people realise their potential and get to know Jesus.
Woking Pastor
Josh is married to Em, and together they lead Emmaus Rd Woking. They have two sons called Jackson and Jonas. Josh was the Associate Minister at an Anglican Church near Southampton for three years before relocating to Woking in 2017. He has a degree from Oxford (Brookes) and spent a year at Bethel School of Ministry in California. Josh has also has a Graduate Diploma in Kingdom Theology from Westminster Theological Centre. Josh is passionate about seeing people walk in freedom and live life to the full.
Woking Pastor
Em is an amazing mum to Jackson (4) and leads Emmaus Rd Woking with her husband Josh. She is currently the Operations Manager for a charity in Southampton which works to support women in prostitution. Em is passionate about people, and seeing them step into their destinies.
Senior Associate Pastor, Guildford
Peter first arrived in Guildford from Northern Ireland in 2011 to study at the Academy of Contemporary Music. A world-class musician, he spent most of his twenties touring and recording as a guitarist with many great worship artists. It was whilst on a gig in Canada that he met Andrea, to whom he is now married, and they have three young children, Willow, Xander and Isla. As well as an honours degree in music, Peter has a Graduate Diploma in Kingdom Theology from Westminster Theological Centre, where he is also now working on his Master’s in Theology. Peter is passionate about helping people engage deeply with the Bible, and embedding spiritual disciplines into their daily lives.
Aldershot Associate Pastor
Jazz has a background in mental health nursing and a post graduate degree in Theology and Religious Studies from King’s College London. She has worked in the third sector establishing peer support groups for people who hear voices and is passionate about the intersection of social justice and mental health, and the impact of spirituality on human flourishing. Jazz has an MA in counselling from Waverley Abbey College, and before taking up her role as Associate Pastor at Emmaus Rd Aldershot, she worked for the NHS in prisons as a trauma therapist working with people in detention settings who have experienced complex trauma. Jazz continues to practice as BACP registered therapist, and loves nothing more than drinking coffee and smiling at dogs.
Guildford Associate Pastor and Head of Youth
Joel grew up in Dagenham in East London but moved to Surrey in 2019 via 7 years in Battersea. Joel has been working with young people for over a decade and has a degree in youth work and theology. He loves movies, music, video games, food and American sport. He is passionate about discipleship and helping young people live their lives to the full! Joel married Tandia in 2017 and they have a son named Arlo!
Woking Associate Pastor
After working as a personal trainer, Mike went to Redding California to study at Bethel Church for three years. It was there that his heart for the church and discipleship took root, leading him to serve as the Woking Associate Pastor. He is married to Abi and loves all things exercise, creativity & specialty coffee.
Aldershot Kids Pastor
Rachel joined Emmaus Rd in 2013 and has been on team as Aldershot Kids Pastor since 2022.
Rachel is passionate about helping children and their families to feel safe and welcome at church. It is important to her that every child feels seen, heard and able to belong and join in. As well as loving the games, craft and excitement of kids groups, she loves helping children encounter God’s love and experience His presence in their daily lives.
She and her husband Dan are also part of the local leadership team in Aldershot and they have two wonderful and lively boys.
Guildford Kids Pastor
Claire joined Emmaus Rd in 2019 and has been Guildford Kids Pastor since 2022. She and her husband Alex have five amazing daughters.
Claire is passionate about helping children and their families feel welcome at church and wants each child to know they belong in God’s family. She believes that if Jesus takes root in the heart of a child, the fruit of that seed can and will continue to grow throughout their lives.
Woking Kids Pastor
Marisan is proudly serving as the Kids Pastor at Emmaus Rd in Woking. Originating from South Africa, Marisan and her family relocated to the UK eight years ago. Her commitment lies in creating a welcoming and inclusive space for families within the church community, serving with a passion for nurturing the growth of children and families. She’s on a purposeful quest to amplify joy, spiritual growth, and connection within Emmaus Rd’s thriving kids church!
Beyond her pastoral duties, she’s a part-time strategy consultant, and takes pleasure in engaging with art, literature, the occasional half marathons, and embarking on enriching adventures with her family.
Student Pastor & Head of Alpha
Holly Back has been part of Emmaus Road since 2015. After coming to Christ at the age of 22, she began serving on the Alpha team. She now heads up Alpha and co-leads the Student Ministry.
Student Pastor
Robbie Back has been a part of Emmaus Road since 2015. Robbie served at Alpha between 2016 and 2018. Previously working in music, Robbie now co-leads the Student Ministry.
Woking Youth Pastor and Worship Coordinator
Joe grew up on the border of East London and Kent before moving to Nottingham to intern within the Vineyard movement, as well as partaking in an adventure-based discipleship course, Soul Edge. He grew up in church and has been serving and leading in both youth and worship ministry for over a decade. He loves film, music, good coffee, adventure, and rugby! He is passionate about doing church well, discipleship, young people knowing their identity in God, and people experiencing freedom, joy, and intimacy in worship.
Guildford Worship Pastor
Originally from a small town in Germany, Timo came to the UK in 2010. He is married to Gemma who he met at the London School of Theology. Timo has an MA in Christianity & the Arts (King’s College London) and in his spare time he enjoys cooking (pasta!), reading and exploring the Surrey countryside. He is also praying hard for Jürgen Klopp to finally start coaching the German national football team.
Guildford Welcome and Connections Pastor
Suzy is a mum of 6 grown up children and has 10 grandchildren. She has been at Emmaus Rd for 10 years and spent a year in Ibiza with 24/7 mission along with her husband, Jeff. She loves walks in the country, chocolate, Cornwall, chocolate, travelling, chocolate, running, and creativity.
Suzy has had a varied career including Residential social worker, cabin crew and scrub nurse in operating theatres. She has a passion for people feeling welcomed and being a part of church family.
Head of Kids
Sam started at Emmaus Rd in 2017 and now works as the Head of Kids, working with the other Kids Pastors to support families on their discipleship journey with their children.
Sam is passionate about creating a safe place for kids to have fun and learn about what it means to live life to the fullest. He loves chocolate ice-cream in the summer and a Sunday roast in the winter!
Head of Find Family
Andrea was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and lived there until she married Peter in 2015. They have since had 2 amazing kids, Willow and Xander. Andrea loves being a mum and you’ll usually see her dancing with her kids along with the kids team at the start of the Guildford morning service each week! Andrea’s role at Emmaus is primarily about connecting everyone right into the heart of our church family, whichever congregation you attend.
Production Lead
Seth grew up locally, then went to Southampton to study Music Performance and Production in 2018. After graduating, he interned at Saint Mary’s church for a year as a worship and production apprentice. In November 2022, he married Rachel, and they moved to Guildford and Emmaus in early 2023. Seth began working as the Production Lead in July 2023 while also continuing his work as a music producer.
Head of Social Transformation
Erik and his wife Rebecca have lived in the area for over 25 years. With a dedication to seeing God’s people demonstrate God’s love in tangible ways, they have kick-started lots of crazy ventures and projects. This includes founding The Lighthouse – a huge derelict building in Woking now turned into a vibrant hub that cultivates community transformation through various innovative projects. On days off, Erik can be found with a book in the corner of a good coffee shop, in second hand record stores, or in his garden constructing things out of recycled timber.
Head of Social Transformation
With a passion for transformation and justice, Rebecca has spent more than a decade working alongside individuals as a coach for personal transformation, and has over 25 years’ experience in missional transformation, including church planting, and pioneering Christ-centred social action. Rebecca is happiest when she is designing and creating beautiful and safe spaces where people can relax and flourish. She loves spending time with her 3 sons, and exploring new cities with her husband Erik.
Head of Projects and Governance
Alan leads the design and implementation of major projects, serving as Secretary to the Boards, and ensuring strong legal and regulatory compliance. Previous to this role, he worked for international companies involved in engineering and project management for over 30 years.
Prayer Coordinator
Natalie arrived to Guildford from her city of birth, London, in 2015 shortly after marrying Robert. Beforehand she graduated at Nottingham Trent University and then stepped into the Lord’s invitation to intern with The Christian Centre.
Natalie loves beautiful stationery, her bold & bright Ghanaian heritage, different expressions of Christian Music and creating spaces for people to encounter Jesus. She’s passionate about Church unity, and the need for deep healing and racial reconciliation in the UK Church. Therefore, she heads up the Unique & United UK Team. Natalie is currently working on a Master’s Degree in Theology & Transformative Practice through The Queen’s Foundation.

Izwe grew up in South Africa and lives with his wife and daughters in Guildford, where they lead one of our Collectives. Izwe is passionate about prayer, worship, intercession, …and horticulture!

Anne lives in Guildford with her husband, Izwe, and their two daughters.
Elder
David is married to Louise and they have four children: Grace, Theo, Hope, and Beata. He has served with Elam for over two decades and was appointed Executive Director in 2014. Born in Iran, David’s family has been serving the Iranian church for three generations. He co-wrote Iran 30, an informational prayer guide translated into seven languages. He is a national and international speaker and has appeared on Christian radio and television programs advocating for the persecuted church.
Elder
Louise is married to David and they have four children: Grace, Theo, Hope, and Beata. Louise serves on our team of Elders and is heavily involved in the prayer community at Emmaus Rd.
Clive Mathew currently chairs Tearfund USA, the Relational Peacebuilding Initiatives (Geneva) and the Church of England Pensions Board. After a long international career with Shell he has helped many charities to grow and flourish. Married to Ann, they have 3 children and 5 grandchildren.
Mike has a background in marketing, operations and sales within the technology, broadcasting, and sport industries. He plays tennis for Woking Tennis Club, is a keen runner, loves watching sport/movies and spending time with his 2 young nephews.
Chris has an engineering and projects background with a 40-year career in the oil and gas business. He and his wife Denise are authors and speakers, and they lead one of our Collectives. They have three children and two grandchildren. Chris is a thankful endurance para-athlete.
Folake is a chartered architect and holds a PhD in architecture from the University College London. She works in private practice in Godalming and a part-time lecturer at the South Bank University Architecture School. Born in Leeds in a Christian family, grew up in Nigeria, she made a commitment to Jesus at the age of 18. She is passionate about Bible Study, and currently serves as a Substitute Teaching Leader at the Guildford Women’s Bible Study Fellowship (BSF).
Ian Nicholson is a Director of Woking Football Club, Chair of the Matrix Trust and European Director for 24-7 Prayer. Married to Jackie, with three grown-up kids, Ian became a Christian in the Sixth Form at the Royal Grammar School, and has lived in Guildford ever since.
Mark is a former partner of KPMG and Ernst & Young, and now enjoys a portfolio career, including acting as a Director of a social impact fund in West Africa and financing large scale renewables projects in the developing world. He is married to Charlotte with three teenage children,
Peter is married to Sally, and they have two teenagers Josh and Phoebe. Peter has a background in strategy with multi nationals, central government, and start-ups. He was previously a PCC trustee of another church and has served on the international Board of trustees for Medair since 2015 and is also the Chair of Trustees for Medair UK. You may occasionally see him with a guitar or bass, pretending he still young enough to add some value.
Rachel Bower works in Marketing and Communications. She is married to Tim and they have two daughters. We love having her on the team because she has an amazing ‘can-do’ attitude, is good fun and was formerly a trustee of another church in London so she really knows what she’s doing! Pete is the Team Leader of Emmaus Rd and the International Director of 24-7 Prayer. Married to Sammy with two grown-up sons, he is always bringing new vision to the team, and calling us back to prayer.
