Team Leader / Elder
Pete is one of the founding champions of the 24-7 Prayer movement and leads Emmaus Rd with Sammy. They live in Guildford with their two sons, and their two dogs, Noodle & Crumble. Pete is an ambassador for the NGO Tearfund and served for seven years on the senior leadership team of HTB in London. Pete is a renowned author and his books include Red Moon Rising, God on Mute and Dirty Glory. He loves live music, decent coffee, Portsmouth FC and art galleries. He’s happiest climbing mountains, knocking down walls or whizzing around the local country lanes in his 1964 Morris Minor convertible.
Team Leader / Elder
Sammy became a Christian just up the road from Guildford at the age of seventeen. Working together in team ministry since they were first married more than 20 years ago, Sammy & Pete have planted two churches. With a background in business, Sammy is a proud mum to two teenage boys, and can often be found reading highbrow books in quiet corners of local coffee shops. Less impressively, she admits to having watched the Bridget Jones movie more than thirty times, and to having once been lead singer in a pub covers band.
Guildford Pastor / Elder
Bill is married to Nici and they have three sons. Before joining Emmaus Rd he worked as a curate under Bishop Sandy Millar and was involved in planting a church in inner city London. This was followed by five years serving on the leadership team at HTB where he founded the Furnace, a community of intercessors committed to fulfilling the vision of non stop prayer in HTB’s 24-7 Prayer room, which he oversaw for two and a half years. He is passionate about people encountering the presence of God. And Fulham FC! Bill loves good stories.

Her background is in marketing and operations with experience working for large corporations, starts ups and charities. She loves anything competitive and a good coffee.
Youth & Kids Pastor
Matt, a keen runner, mountain biker and formula one fan, heads up the youth and kids work at Emmaus Rd. Originally from Southampton, he studied youth & community work with applied theology before moving to Guildford to join the team 4 years ago. Matt is married to Paz who he met in Spain whilst at a 24-7 Prayer gathering. He is passionate about seeing young people realise their potential, discover their gifts and get to know Jesus. And he makes the best cup of tea Guildford has ever seen.
Jessica studied Spanish & Portuguese at Queen’s University Belfast before interning at Emmanuel Church in Lurgan for a year. She moved to Guildford in August 2016 to take over the kid’s work at Emmaus Rd. Highly competitive by nature, Jessica loves hockey (as long as she wins!) and feels called to seeing children released into their full potential.
Youth & Kid's Intern
Sam grew up in the North-East of Scotland before moving to Guildford for the 24-7 Prayer Vision Course at the beginning of this year. At the conclusion of the course Sam took on the role of Youth & Kid’s Intern and now works alongside Matt and Jess on all things youth & kids related. Sam is passionate about creating a safe place for young people to have fun and be themselves. He loves chocolate ice-cream and afternoon naps.

Jenny is a Paediatric Occupational Therapist at a local school for children with complex needs. She is passionate about seeing those with a disability included and welcomed into every part of church and heads up this work at Emmaus Rd, both in church and through our Family Outreach team.
Head of Social Transformation
Erik and his wife Rebecca moved to Woking as missionaries over 20 years ago. With a dedication to seeing God’s people demonstrate God’s love in tangible ways, they have kick-started lots of crazy ventures and projects. This includes founding The Lighthouse – a huge derelict building now turned into a vibrant hub that cultivates community transformation through various innovative projects. On days off, Erik can be found in the corner of a good coffee shop, exploring the Surrey Hills, or strumming his guitar – with great passion and little skill!
Head of Social Transformation
With a passion for transformation and justice, Rebecca has spent more than a decade working alongside individuals as a coach for personal transformation, and has over 25 years’ experience in missional transformation, including church planting, and pioneering Christ-centred social action. Rebecca is happiest when she is designing and creating beautiful and safe spaces where people can relax and flourish. She loves spending time with her 3 sons, and exploring new cities with her husband Erik.

A world-class musician, he has played with many of the world’s best known worship leaders & regularly plays guitar with Worship Central. It was whilst touring in Canada that he met Andrea, to whom he is now married! Peter is passionate about helping people truly encounter God in worship. And board games.
Richard is married to Calli and together they write, perform and record music together in a band called Cardboard Carousel. They also feel a call towards worship ministry which has lead Richard to join the Emmaus Team and attend the Worship Central Academy this year. He loves the outdoors and has a heart for people and their well being, although if he sees a dog, you’ll lose all his attention for at least 5 minutes.
Jess, alongside working for a local charity, leads the student work at Emmaus with her husband Ben. In her spare time she loves playing netball, eating Thai food and enjoying a glass of wine with friends. She has a big heart for vulnerable people and seeing those who are least raised up for God to use them. She is also a very gifted cellist, although she wouldn’t tell you!
Ben, along with his wife Jess, leads the student work at Emmaus whilst studying for a degree in Theology at St Mellitus College in London.

Rachel Bower works in Marketing and Communications. She is married to Tim and they have two daughters. We love having her on the team because she has an amazing ‘can-do’ attitude, is good fun and was formerly a trustee of another church in London so she really knows what she’s doing!
Scot Bower heads up CSW, an organisation advocating for people who are being persecuted for their faith around the world. He and his wife Misty have two teenage kids, and also serve as Elders. We love having Scot on the team because he is a brilliant strategic thinker, keeps the link with our Eldership Team strong and is usually up for a pint.
Christian Guy is the US & Europe director for Justice and Care, an NGO fighting human trafficking. He was previously a special adviser in 10 Downing Street and before that the head of the Centre for Social Justice. We love having him on the team because he’s razor sharp, and passionate about helping the poor.
