Listening Workshop
Saturday 06 March
10:00am
About

Listening – the lost art of non-verbal communication

Listening is that funny thing that most of us know we could be better at it but rarely think about how this could actually be so. Mark Herbert, (member at Emmaus Road and Director of Leader-full) is offering the church family a free 2 hour online workshop to help us. By learning to listen better, not only will we love one another better but we will almost certainly get better at listening to God too.

Sign up to book your place and we will send you details of the zoom closer to the date.

Hong Kong Ready Church Info Evening
Tuesday 25 May
8:00pm
About

The UK Government has opened a new route (from 31st January) for people in Hong Kong with a British National Overseas (BNO) passport to come to the UK. You can read more about this on the BBC news article. The UKHK churches initiative is being led by Dr Krish Kandiah and is a collaboration of different organisations looking to equip the UK Church to be ‘Hong Kong Ready’.

Here is a quick video all about it from Krish.

Excitingly, Emmaus Rd has signed up to be a ‘Hong Kong Ready’ church – we really want to be a welcoming and inclusive community – and see this as a really important thing to be doing to serve our brothers and sisters and welcome those moving from Hong Kong to the UK. It’s an incredible opportunity to love our neighbours and a practical way to serve Jesus and each other.

You have the opportunity to sign up as a ‘welcomer’ and be ready to be paired with an individual or family moving from Hong Kong to help them settle into the UK.

We’ve got some brilliant training videos should you be interested in getting involved in this really exciting movement.

We will be hosting a ‘Hong Kong Ready’ info evening on the 25th May, where you can ask any questions you might have and hear more about what being involved would look like!

Sign-up to come along to the zoom, hosted by the ER Hong Kong Ready Church team.

We can’t wait to see you, and get welcoming!

The one where we went to church together
Tuesday 01 - Wednesday 30 June
1:00am
About

Are feeling a little nervous about going back to in person gatherings?!
We would love to pair you up with someone who is keen to welcome you – and be a buddy to you for your first few visits, and help connect you with others.
I would like a buddy!

We have had lots of people join our church whilst it’s been online, and some of us are feeling a little wobbly about going back to meeting in person. We would love an army of friendly faces to volunteer to be a buddy for someone’s first few visits, and help connect them with others.
I would like to BE a buddy!

The one where we shared a Buddy Box
Saturday 19 June
10:30am
About

As a church we are determined to reach out and be family to each other! One of the ways we are encouraging each other to do this is through ‘Buddy Boxes’ – a box of picnic treats to share with a friend!

Sign up for your free Buddy Box, then all you need to do is collect it from the carport at The Founders Studio between 10:30am and 12:30pm on Saturday 19th June, and share the delicious treats and some quality time with a friend, neighbour, or anyone of your choice.

There are two boxes on offer:

1. Bevvies With Buds (Non-alchoholic beers & snacks)
2. Tea for Two (An afternoon tea!)
(We also have a gluten and dairy free box for anyone with these dietary requirements!)

Make sure you sign up by the end of the day on Monday 14th June, and remember, each box is enough for two people!
